FRIDAY BLOG

Happy Friday everyone and welcome to today's blog.  I'm staying on the theme of this week where we have been looking after insects and creatures in your garden and today we are going to think about the birds in your garden.  Even though it is "summertime" allegedly, you still need to be putting something out for the birds as they are feeding their young at this time of year.  So how about this Window Bird Feeder http://www.ruddickgardengifts.co.uk/birds/window_feeder.html perfect for

peanuts or seed it has three suction pads which attach to your window and a little tray at the front to put the seed or nuts in.  Then you wait for the birds to come and you will get a really close up view of birds feeding.  It measures 17x8x27cm and can be found on our Best for Birds page.  It
has a metal roof and is priced at just £5.60.  As you can see Alfie can't wait for the birds to come and enjoy the peanuts.  I'm sure young or old in your household will love watching our feathered friends!

BUTTERFLY BLOG

Welcome everyone to Wednesday and following on from my "Product of the Week" which was the Ladybird House and Insect Hotel I thought today I would show you the Butterfly House.  http://www.ruddickgardengifts.co.uk/birds/butterfly_house.html  I'm sure like me you love butterflies in the garden well this house is the ideal place for them to seek shelter in the cold and wet weather.  It measures 18cmx14.5cmx32.5cm and can be found on our Best for Birds page.  It has a metal roof and a side opening which is perfect

for you to be able to fill it with a handful of twigs as the butterflies will hang onto these when using the house.  The opening will also make cleaning out the butterfly house easier once they have vacated.  It is a very simple design but would look great in the garden and is priced

at a very reasonable £14.99.

If you like the idea of this Butterfly House but don't really get butterflies in your garden then why not try a box of our Butterflies Seeds http://www.ruddickgardengifts.co.uk/seeds/butterflies.html which has been specifically designed to encourage butterflies into your garden.  Each box contains seeds for approximately 23 annual and perennial species including clover, corn cockle and dill.  The box will cover 7m2 of your garden and

full instructions are on the box.  Priced at just £9.99 it is a really easy way to create a butterfly garden.
So why not give it a go, it couldn't be easier.  Check out both these products on our website www.ruddickgardengifts.co.uk

"Gifts To Make You Smile"

Hello everyone and welcome to this weeks "Product of the Week".  This week I thought I would focus on every
gardeners favourite, the ladybird.  Not only are they a joy to watch they are extremely useful in the garden.  Did you know that an adult ladybird will eat over 100 aphids per day?  This is a very good reason to make them comfortable in your garden and what better way than with our Ladybird House.  http://www.ruddickgardengifts.co.uk/birds/ladybird_house.html  It has

been specifically designed to allow ladybirds to shelter whilst keeping out other inhabitants and predators.  It is advisable to put some leaves inside to make the ladybirds feel at home.  As you can see from the pictures it has a metal roof and a front opening to allow you to fill with leaves and then clean it out once the ladybirds have gone.  It measures 17x10x22cm and is priced at £9.99 and can be found on our Best for Birds page.
We also have to offer you this brilliant Insect Hotel. http://www.ruddickgardengifts.co.uk/birds/insect_hotel.html Insects do a really important job in your garden as they act as a natural pest controller.  With this insect hotel you can offer several species a place to nest and hibernate at the same time.  The

compartment in the middle allows protection and housing to green lacewings, ladybirds and earwigs.    The red colour of the door will be really attractive for the insects especially the green lacewings.  As you can see there is a catch on the door to allow easy access for you as it is important to fill it with fine wheat straw for them to hibernate between mid September and early April.  The hollow sticks below will be an ideal home for bees as that is where they like to shelter and the holes in the block of wood will be used by many different species as some prefer bigger holes than others to live in.  It is also important to consider where you place your insect hotel.  The best position is in a sunny location which is protected from wind and rain. Place it where the entrance can be seen by the insects but also somewhere where there are plenty of herbs and flowers to provide them all with food.  The hotel measures 18cmx14cmx32cm and is priced at £19.99.  It can be found on our Best for Birds page where we have

plenty of other houses for birds or insects.  Why not go and check them out!

"Gifts To Make You Smile"

So another week almost over and the weekend to look forward to - hopefully a nice one!  Thought I would introduce you to another couple of my new products, so here we have the Bird Feeding Log which can be found on our Best for Birds page.  It is made from a piece of hollowed out Birch wood and has been filled with bird seed.  It hangs from a piece of rope and is priced at only £3.99.  As you can see it looks good hanging from a tree branch but would look just as effective hanging off a bird table.http://www.ruddickgardengifts.co.uk/birds/bird_feeding_log.html  I know you are probably thinking you shouldn't be feeding the birds through the summer, but they do still need something as they are feeding their young.  Anyway this is a great, reasonably priced item as once they have finished the seed which comes in it, you can easily refill with your own food.  Next up I thought I would show you what my hubby built for me in our garden for rainy days such as these.  It's not quite finished but its perfect for sitting out when its quite warm

but wet.  And this brings me onto my next new product the Small Candle Bowl.  As you can see it comes in a small, white ceramic pot.  The candle comes in four funky colours - orange, pink, blue and green and is priced at only £1.99.

http://www.ruddickgardengifts.co.uk/fire/small_candle_bowl.html

You can find it on our
Fire & Light page.  It is ideal for outside dining as it will keep away those annoying flies and has a burn time of 2.5 hours.  So why not pop on over to our website and take a look at some of the brilliant products we have for your garden and home.  Ordering couldn't be easier and the products can be with you in a couple of days.  Our address is www.ruddickgardengifts.co.uk  we are well worth a visit!
